Location: West of Arden in Central Frontenac
Join us for a fun event aimed at folks who are new to the outdoors! We’ll take a leisurely, low-barrier stroll 1.5 kilometers west of Arden and back along the Trans Canada Trail. The trail passes through bits of forest and past varied wetlands to the picturesque Arden Lake. The elevated rail trail provides a great view down into the marshy areas that surround the lake. Native plants include American royal fern, prickly ash, starry false Solomon’s-seal, white snakeroot and more. Expect to see some late-season migratory birds as well as resident species, seasonal mushrooms, butterflies and other fall wildlife.

This hike is easily paced and focused on observing the wildlife around us. The Trans Canada Trail has a gravel and crushed stone surface. It is flat with a few small imperfections. The trail is used by ATVs and cyclists, so please watch out for traffic!
Participants should bring plenty of water and a snack if desired. Dress for the weather and bring sun, rain and bug protection. As always, be aware of ticks and poison ivy. Please contact us if you would like any guidance on these matters.
